In 2003 we had the opportunity to invite the H.R.H. Prince of Wales into our studio whilst he was visiting the Mill due to his interest in the National Heritage Scheme!

We had many major publishers buying our designs who would restructure the images to suit their own requirements. We were often disappointed with the quality of the end product and unhappy about being at the bottom of the chain with no control and very little say in how our artwork was used. We had such confidence in the original freshness and simplicity of the initial ‘spark’ of our designs that we decided to take the leap from designers to publishers and launch a range of 32 cards at the Harrogate Home + Gift fair 2005. It was a scary time for us as it was a huge investment but we had lots of help from The Ladder Club – an idea conceived by a lovely lady called Lynn Tait – specifically set up to help and advise people in our situation!

The sleepless nights were all worth while and Paper Salad has superseded all our expectations! We love designing our cards and are really pleased with our new sparkly giftwrap and handmade bows! We have 10 brilliant sales agents on the road who cover the most of the UK and Ireland and distributors in Australia and New Zealand.

We are still enjoying immeasurable success with our freelance designs both at home and overseas with a large client base particularly in the U.S.A. Our latest designs have been spotted in Papyrus’s shop window, Grand Central Station, New York!
